arrow
Ready, get set, on your mark- go! Ready, aim, fire!
An arrow reminds me of native American culture. Of course, hunters throughout the ages have used bows and arrows. The first thing that shows up on a google hit is a TV show- ARROW.
Spoiled billionaire playboy Oliver Queen is missing and presumed dead when his yacht is lost at sea. He returns five years later a changed man…..
Webster defines it as: 1. a weapon that is made to be shot from a bow and that is usually a stick with a point at one end and feathers at the other end or : 2. a mark (such as →) that is shaped like an arrow and that is used to show direction
Directional? A story line titled Arrow about a “changed man”. A quote about feeling like you are going backwards, right before you are launched forward. Stay focused and keep on the aim- what is an aim?
Webster defines aim as: 1. to point (a weapon) at a target, 2. to point (a device) at something, 3. to direct (something, such as a missile, a ball, a punch, or a kick) at a target. It also means “Aspire, Intend”. An aim is an objective, goal or purpose.
What is your aim today?
Where is your arrow likely to land? Are you launching into a new project or are you off the bow? Did you dismantle the whole set up? Have you separated yourself from worthwhile purposes? Why? What will you be most happy with- the things you didn’t do, or the things you did? Someone told me, “you’re never happy unless you have 5 projects going at once”. That’s not true. I am “happy” – in general, ,everyday. I am not as “alive” as when I have something I feel true passion for and can be actively engaged in accomplishing. I value so many things, its impossible not to just look around and see one. If it’s on your radar, it’s then indistinguishable from being on your project list.
What am I doing today? I am enjoying myself. How? I am being the responsible friend who takes care of some fish, two birds, three dogs, the mail, etc for a friend who is out of town. I am being the good grandmother, who agrees to go “trail riding” with the granddaughter who calls. I am listening to birds chirp and watching little dogs talk to them. I hear boats and see people ski by. I have four courses of homework I work on from time to time. Thinking: I am doing right much of that. I have scheduled some meetings for next week. Done some laundry. Prepared some salads. Responded to some work emails. Launched a new advisory group. Looked into a hospital closing. Considered a medical clinic non-profit, read part of a non-profit start-up book.
TV? Nope. There is no way to point yourself or be pointed into productivity with a TV show lulling you into mindlessness.
The key word in “doing good” from the Arrow TV show is “Doing”. You can’t finish until you start. You can’t get to good, until you choose to do. Choose something worthwhile and meaningful to do today.
Some of my friends are at the beach. It is good to renew.
Some of my family are working on art projects. It is good to create.
Some of my friends are traveling. It is good to see new places and do new things.
Some of my friends are at work. It is good to be gainfully employed.
Do you get the message? It is good to “do”. Action begets more action, which leads to good results. Inaction, leads to inertia & depression. Nobody ever got “on a roll” until they started moving!
Get up, point yourself and get going!!! That way → → → → → 🙂
