compensating

001Compensation is easy- you get something for something.

Nope, not Nothing from Nothing leaves Nothing  This is something from something leaves something!

Compensatory time is time back for work performed outside the usual 40 hours. Not many places use it anymore. I guess it was too hard to keep up with.

Compensating? Would I need to compensate for a husband who slept on a different schedule than me? Would I want to? Why do I even think about it? Because as you age, you are constantly aware of every thing you are “compensating for”. It’s a delicate balance. If you’re not compensating for one of your own foibles, you are covering for someone else’s.

I want a big live tree that smells of Christmas. The problem is a living space crowded with furniture and a small car. How will I compensate? I guess I can move stuff and haul a tree hanging half way out the trunk. Don’t you see? We are constantly in a state of compensation.

It’s a check and balance that goes on beneath the surface. Do you think stretching out on this soft lounge chair under a perfectly tilted umbrella was worth $20 for the day? I was well compensated with this exchange. compensation
