cynicism

Cynicism is an escape from hope. Hope puts you in position to be hurt. Cynics expect the worst, so they can’t be disappointed.

Cynicism is faith in reverse. It’s accepting and believing that most likely- nothing good will happen.

Like I hear people say, “I prepare for the worst and hope for the best”. That particular belief system is critical and pessimistic. We can’t prepare for every bad thing that could possibly happen to us. We can’t live like that and have faith, hope and love guide us.

A cynic is defined by Merriam Webster as :a faultfinding captious critic, especially : one who believes that human conduct is motivated wholly by self-interest.

If you look at this picture, you wonder- where are the female ducks? It’s that time of year where nature partners up for spring.

A cynic might say,” why would they want to share this yard pond?” . A hopeful person might say, “maybe all the men went out to look for food for their mate”. Our belief system colors everything we see and how we experience our lives.
