Table manners

Families used to have the children set the table for special occasions like this.

Schools used to teach the proper way to set the table, in kindergarten or later in Home Economics.

We don’t even teach Home Ec anymore and K-students are busy filling out worksheets ad infinitem.

Do we even have a cake fork and a dessert spoon? Water glass, red wine and white wine glass?

I will confess that the last time I saw a table set like this was on a Danube River Cruise.

The boat hostess removed the silverware and plates as we used them. She amazed me.

You can see why!! We need to be mindful of proper table set up. Good manners are never out of style!!
