Nourish

There seems to be a lot of conversation about “nourishing yourself”.  I had someone recommend a special cookie and bread shop to “replenish” myself after going through a stressful event. Are they the same? Well, not completely.

Nourish:

  1. provide with the food or other substances necessary for growth, health, and good condition.
synonyms: feed, provide for, sustain, maintain

  2. keep (a feeling or belief) in one’s mind, typically for a long time.
synonyms: cherish, nurture, foster, harbor, nurse, entertain, maintain, hold, have

    Replenish:
    1. fill (something) up again.
synonyms: refill, top up, fill up, recharge, freshen

    2. restore (a stock or supply of something) to the former level or condition.
synonyms: restock, stock up, restore, replace

Nourishing yourself or replenishing yourself covers the physical body ( with healthy foods), the mental ( with positive thoughts) and the emotional ( with self-nurturing). Replenishing seems to only be needed if you have a lapse in nourishing.

Nourishing is also keeping a feeling or belief in your mind. I entertain some strong beliefs and hold them dear. Nourish yourself- in whatever ways you need.
